  • Police are investigating PAS assemblyperson Wan Rohimi Wan Daud over remarks which were perceived to be belittling the men in blue.

    This was after the Melor assemblyperson said he and others who joined him in a motorcycle convoy had “kena bodo” (outsmarted) police roadblocks meant to hinder them.

    Kelantan police chief Yusoff Mamat - without naming Wan Rohimi - said the latter will be investigated under the Penal Code for intentional insults, the Communications and Multimedia Act for abuse of network facilities, and the Minor Offences Act for insulting behaviour.

  • Earlier, Bar Council criminal law committee chair Vivek Sukamaran said Wan Rohimi should be investigated for obstruction of a public servant and failure to comply with lawful road enforcement as per the Road Transport Act.

    He also urged an investigation into whether there were police who helped the PAS leader evade roadblocks.

    This was after Wan Rohimi said they had “SB” tipping them off - although it was not clear if this meant actual special branch officers or private individuals.

  • A participant of the Tangkap Azam Baki rally in Kuala Lumpur yesterday lodged a police report over an incident where unknown individuals had let off fire crackers and sparked a minor commotion.

    Muda member Sharifah Rashifa Aljunied, in her police report lodged at the Dang Wangi police station today, said she was injured by sparks from the explosion that occurred during speeches at around 3.30pm.

    “There was smoke everywhere, and the firecrackers exploded right where I stood. The sparks hit my face and body,” she said.

    Rashifa said her vision was temporarily obscured due to the smoke and injury, and that two participants eventually helped her to move across the street from Sogo, where the rally of some 1,000 people was held.

  • Putra has submitted an application to join Perikatan Nasional. The party, which has no seats, also hopes to secure electoral cooperation to avoid seat clashes.

    Putra has failed to win any seats since it was formed in 2019, and consistently lost its deposit in each contest it entered. Its president, Ibrahim Ali, last won a Parliament seat in 2008, when he contested on a PAS ticket.
