KINILENS | Landmarks in the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan have been lit blue as part of a global movement to show appreciation to healthcare workers and other frontliners battling the Covid-19 pandemic.
The colour has been chosen for its association with the medical profession.
The "Light it Blue" campaign in Malaysia runs every night from April 30 to May 3, beginning 10.30pm until 1am next morning.
It involves 35 landmarks across the Federal Territories.
According to Federal Territory Minister Annuar Musa, there are 14,398 frontliners in the Federal Territories, including the ministry's own staff, National Security Council, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Putrajaya Corporation, Labuan Corporation, police, army, state health department, Civil Defence Force, Welfare Department and others.
The figure does not include volunteers and workers in the private sector and NGOs, though Annuar said this tribute is for them too.
