Jelebu to get a new Tapir conservation centre

Negeri Sembilan Wildlife and National Parks Department director Wan Mat Wan Harun said this is to deal with the increasing number of tapirs being rescued every year.
Malaysia will build the country's first tapir conservation centre in the Kenaboi Forest Reserve in Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan.

102 Tapirs were reported to have perished in roadkills in the last decade. This is a huge lost, especially since the Tapir population in the country is only estimated to be at around 1,000 to 1,500. A Tapir conservation centre will go a long way in helping protect what is left of our Tapir population.
