NONE Johor state executive councillor Abd Aziz Kaprawi ( right ), who underwent a by-pass surgery yesterday, is reported to be stable and conscious.

His wife, Sabariah Tokimin, said Abd Aziz, 51, who was admitted to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital's coronary care unit, would require between 48 to 72 hours of doctor's supervision.

Only then, could he be transferred to a normal ward, she said.

"This morning, he could open his eyes and smile. That's a good sign to me. His condition seems to be normal for someone who had just undergone surgery.

"Except for me and our children, other visitors are not allowed to see him," she said when met at the hospital here today.

Sabariah said Abd Aziz had complained of chest pains previously but thought the state agriculture and agro-based industry committee chairman was lacking sufficient rest.

Besides the couple's five children, also present at the hospital was the Johor menteri besar's wife, Datin Prof Dr Jamilah Ariffin.
