I strongly condemn the statement by Kedah PAS Youth information bureau chief Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman yesterday, in which he urged MAS to look at the serving of alcohol and dress code of the airline’s stewardesses.

He said these go against Islamic principles and earned the wrath of Allah, and linked this directly to the MH17 tragedy.

All religions stress on God’s compassion and mercy. Thus it is unfortunate that people like Ahmad Tarmizi are giving the wrong impression of Islam.

I wonder how a statement like this can come from a PAS Youth leader when, in the first place, there is no such thing as ‘karma’, which is the Hindu law of cause and effect, in Islam.

We Malaysians must remain united over the MH17 tragedy and continue giving our full support to our Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and the government to demand swift justice against the people responsible for the inhumane act of killing almost 300 innocent people, including many children.

Ahmad Tarmizi should be strongly criticised for his thoughtless statement during a time of national tragedy.

I call upon him to retract and apologise publicly to the people of Malaysia for his idiotic and inconsiderate statement during this difficult time.

Stand up, speak out and unite as Malaysians!
