I would like to put forward the serious implications of having Jawi or any other Islamic body interfering with my personal life. I am not speaking on behalf of anyone else or any organisation but in general, I do feel I am a general representation of Muslims who want moral police of any sort scrapped for good.
From all the letters over the past few weeks on the pro and cons of the Jawi raid , I can conclude that there are many Muslims out there who despise the idea of having other people poking their noses into the personal lives of others.
I, like many Muslim professionals, am disgusted with the idea of having another person telling me how to lead my life or where I can or can't go.
I would like to suggest to Jawi to employ more professionals, people who have done their first degrees in one discipline and have taken up Islamic studies as their second. These people would be more versed with 'global Islam' and how Islam is progressing in other countries.
Most of the people in Jawi - judging from the way they conduct themselves - are not exposed to Islam in other parts of the world.
Lastly, if you do not leave me alone, I will find another country to live in. I can be replaced here ... yes, I agree. But what if there are a million of us here who wouldn't mind migrating? Won't that be interesting?
