I am extremely appalled at the spate of letters in the media moaning about the lack of broadband access in urban areas. I wish to say this to the complainers: stop whinging like a small boy who had his sweets stolen.

Why are people complaining about the lack of broadband access? It is as if we are a first world country or like we are some sort of Silicon Valley or Bangalore twin. Wise up folks, this is only Kuala Lumpur.

Our service providers and the regulators have far more important things to do, like roll out 3G services or have more and more SMS related premium services to earn more income. Broadband services are not big money earners so why should a company bother about it?

There is no way TM Net is going to waste funds (and why should they) when they have more important lucrative headline grabbing developments such as this .

Why do people moan about lack of broadband access when we can't do much with it anyway. E-mails sent to heads of government never get looked at and ditto for those sent to corporate bodies too. Why bother with high-speed broadband when most websites in Malaysia are never operational?

Our regulators have far more pressing issues to deal with such as the quest for clean water, public buses that run, SMS complaint systems that never work and stolen MyKads. Why should they squander their scarce resources on 'premium' and 'luxury' resources such as high-speed broadband access?

Stop whinging will ya, the lot of you? You'll make outside world think that our country has attained the wisdom of knowledge economy or a developed status. Oh, please...
