After Sept 11, Muslim foreigners coming to the UK were stringently screened and it is not uncommon for the immigration authorities to turn away dubious Muslim travellers if they are suspicious of their intended purpose of travel.

In view of this very strict entry surveillance, it is most likely that the terrorists who planted the recent London bombs were Muslims of British origin. There were previous instances where British Muslims citizens went to Pakistan, Afghanistan and even Iraq to join the legions of foreign fighters there.

If there are British Muslims citizens who are prepared to go to foreign lands to fight, then it is conceivable that there are fanatic Muslim terrorists of British origin on British soil. As long as Britain hosts a sizeable population of Muslim citizens, it is highly probable and most likely that such bombings will be repeated in the future.

In the aftermath of the London bombings, many Muslims in London no doubt criticised the blasts but what was most disturbing was that their denunciation was qualified with a justification that it was in return for UK's involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq where innocent civilians were bombed and killed.

If such a perception is common among the Muslim populace in UK then it is very possible that there will be Muslims who will be prepared to extract revenge on British soil.

The chorus of protest against such terrorists bombings should be unanimous and vocal. To kill and slaughter innocent civilians in the course of furthering the Islamic cause does not serve justice to the very religion such acts are trying to defend.
