I refer to the letter LRT commuters in stalled train ignored. I, too, was trapped in the LRT for 50 minutes between the KL Sentral and Pasar Seni stations on the evening of July 24. My main concern was ventilation - the doors were shut, the windows were sealed and we were 50 feet above the ground.

It happened during peak hours and the train was packed like a sardine can. Imagine how claustrophobic and stuffy it was. The red button for the intercom to contact LRT staff did not work and the speakers were faulty. On top of this, we could hardly hear any of the announcements made.

There were elderly people and what if someone there had a health problem? With that kind of stress, one could suffer a heart attack.

I also notice that during peak hours, there is no one managing the crowds at the LRT stations to prevent overloading. Dissemination of information is slow and situations like the one which occurred on July 24 are not taken seriously. I was told by one station staff that this is 'Biasa saja' and that it happens every now and then.
