Let's cut to the chase here. Asli says the bumiputera share equity is 45% but the government says it is only 18.9%. Assuming the government is correct, that means we have say another 11.1% to go before the bumi target is reached.
Here is a suggestion - let all the non-bumis pass over 6% of their wealth in cash or kind to a government trust towards allowing the bumiputeras to achieve their equity target. In return, the government disbands the NEP other vestiges of privileges like the housing discounts, the education quotas and others.
Either do this or really publish the data and subject it to the rigour of debate and see what is really fair. Get real, until we have a cohesive Malaysian race with some real contest we are not going to have
- innovation at its best
- real entrepreneurial culture
- a solid educated class
- competitive sportspersons
- a thriving arts culture and many other global traits which we want to cultivate.
