I refer to the letter SIA reimbursed by Lee for wife's flight .

I seemed to have missed reading about that in the news. Assuming that it's true, let's do the maths here: one Economy Class ticket from London to Singapore would cost approximately GBP1,000, while one Business Class ticket from London to Singapore would cost GBP2,000 and one First Class ticket would cost GBP4,000.

I am not that in the aviation line so I am guessing here. Assuming that the capacity of a small Boeing 747 is about 300, let's say 220 are Economy Class, 50 are Business Class and 30 are First Class seats.

That would work out to be GBP440,000 for a one-way trip. A round trip (multiplied by two) would be GBP880,000. It would come up to be about RM6 million. I could be off by a couple million ringgit but you get the idea.

That's not including the wages paid to the medical team for their extraordinary service, the customisation made to the plane to become a mobile hospital, etc.

I know that the Singaporean ministers are paid seven-figure salaries (correct me if I am wrong) but even with that, it will take several years of work for Lee to clear the bill. As a model of anti-corruption, one would have expected Lee would to have paid the full market price for the chartering of the SIA plane.

Again correct me if I am wrong, I also don't recall reading Lee - or any members of his family - being listed in the Forbes Top 100 Richest People in Asia.
