MB raps Zaid the 'wolf in sheep's clothing'

Pahang Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob today launched a scathing attack on former Umno leader Zaid Ibrahim's decision to join PKR.

Adnan said he was not surprised by the move, adding that Zaid was just exhibiting his 'true colours'.

"Zaid is a "wolf in sheep's clothing"... he thinks he is very smart," he was quoted as saying by Bernama .

"Before he was in the cabinet for a short duration and tried to be a champion of democracy and freedom, but see what he has done against the government," he added.

Yesterday, Zaid, a former minister in the Prime Minister's Department, announced that he was joining PKR .

Zaid resigned as minister last September, before he was sacked from Umno three months later.

'Cheap publicity'

Opposition Leader and PKR supremo Anwar said Zaid's membership in PKR will help boost the party because "he is known for his bravery in defending human rights and the independence of judiciary".

He also said that Zaid has a good relationship with DAP and PAS and his decision to join PKR will help strengthen Pakatan Rakyat.

Meanwhile, Adnan also rapped Anwar for calling on the government to allow former Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) leader Chin Peng return to Malaysia.

The menteri besar said it was an attempt by the opposition leader to gain cheap publicity.
