Karpal spins at Penang CM rotation hint
The DAP chairperson has hit out at a PKR MP for suggesting that the Chief Minister's post be rotated among Pakatan Rakyat partners.
DAP chairperson Karpal Singh has today blasted Balik Pulau MP and PKR Penang Youth chief Yusmadi Yusoff over his alleged suggestion in calling for a rotation in the Penang Chief Minister's post.
Describing Yusmadi as a "minor official" in PKR, Karpal called on the party's de facto leader, Anwar Ibrahim, to ensure that such leaders do not make such statements in the future.

will also clear the air on the issue as to whether Yusmadi has a mandate to speak such things.
"DAP has 18 state seats in Penang. We have the majority and it (DAP) certainly has the right to choose someone from within the party to be the Chief Minister."
"The person from PKR Youth should not rock the boat. This is a very serious matter for a "minor official" to make such a statement over the position of the Chief Minister.
"We respect PKR having the majority in Selangor, the DAP respects the position and would never ask for a rotation in the Selangor Menteri Besar's seat."
Karpal was speaking to reporters, after representing his son and Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo, in his suit against the Dewan Rakyat Speaker for his 12 month suspension.
Yusmadi was quoted in a Malay daily suggesting, a rotation be made for the Chief Minister's post in Penang as part of a new formula to give opportunities to all Pakatan leaders, to hold the top executive post in line with the motto of "Justice for all".
Guan Eng doing good job
Karpal said (Penang Chief Minister) Lim Guan Eng (right) has done a good job in Penang.
"He is liked by all, not only by the Chinese but also the Malays and the Indians. He is doing a good job not like his predecessor (presently Minister in the Prime Minister's Department) Dr Koh Tsu Koon," said the senior lawyer.
Karpal said that although there was a rotation of the Chief Minister's post in Sabah, it has been terminated as it was not successful.
When told that Yusmadi had denied making such a statement and that he was misquoted, Karpal said it was easy to deny such things.
"Unfortunately it comes from a PKR politician this time. I hope this does not happen again," he said.
To questions on whether the Penang Chief Minister's posts should be reserved for the Chinese community or should the position be awarded based on merit, Karpal feels that merit is the key.
"The DAP has the majority in Penang but a leader should be selected based on his/her merits. It is on merit as far as Penang is concerned at the moment," said the senior lawyer.
"Guan Eng has done a good job and he is a capable man and that it why he is leading Penang."
