Malay nationalist group Gagasan Melayu Perak (GMP) told Ipoh Barat DAP parliamentarian M Kulasegaran to give up his citizenship and leave the country if he was unhappy with the establishment of Malay supremacy and the New Economic Policy (NEP).

NONE Beruas parliamentarian Ngeh Koo Ham ( left ) told reporters in Parliament today that GMP brought along a huge banner and staged a protest outside the DAP office in Ipoh.

Kulasegaran, however, not present when the protest was staged on Saturday as he was overseas.

About 10 people led by GMP president Mohd Hilmi Ismail gathered with a memorandum which was enlarged as a yellow banner warning Kulasegaran from touching on ketuanan Melayu (Malay supremacy) among others.

Kulasegaran had mentioned ketuanan Melayu when posing an additional question to Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Koh Tsu Koon on Dec 3.

The memorandum, addressed to Kulasegaran, and later dropped into a post box, sarcastically added that GMP hoped Kulasegaran will be "happy with his countrymen in his homeland".

It also contained a reminder to the Malays that DAP will not uphold their rights.

Narrow thinking

Kulasegaran, when met in Parliament today, said that he was shocked over the incident.

maika holding shareholders meeting 300807 kulasegaran "My stand is very clear, GMP or any other organisation has no right whatsoever to demand the removal of my citizenship because I was born here and this is my country," he said.

In light of the 1Malaysia concept, he said, the GMP's thinking was very narrow.

Kulasegaran ( right ) said that the hindrance to unity in Malaysia is the "racial policies practised by the government" and the philosophy of ketuanan Melayu and NEP.

"What is the stand of MCA, MIC, Gerakan and other non-Malay parties? Are they subscribing to this Ketuanan Melayu? he asked.

"There is only one supreme race, the human race. People still believe that because of the colour of their skin, they are superior than another. There is no such thing," said Kulsegaran.
