Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud, who is Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) president for 28 years since 1981, is expected to retain its presidency post at the PBB Triennial General Meeting (TGM) next year.

The meeting will held in the first week of March.

PBB secretary-general Dr Stephen Rundi said that 69 PBB branches out of a total 71 branches held their meeting, as well as election, and passed resolutions for the post of party president, two deputy presidents, two senior vice-presidents and seven vice-presidents not to be contested.

NONE "So far, only Lingga and Batu Kawa branches have not held their meeting but I believe the two branches will come up with similar resolutions," he told reporters after attending a three-hour PBB supreme council meeting chaired by Taib ( left ) in Kuching today.

Rundi said that next year, the TGM would be held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, with more than 1,000 delegates and observers expected to attend.

He said Prime Minister Najib Razak would open the meeting.

No threat from Parti Cinta M'sia

On another matter, Dr Rundi, who is state BN secretary-general, said the emergence of a new political party in the state, Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM), would not affect the people's support for BN.

Independent state assemblyman for Ngemah Gabriel Adit Demong, 60, who was previously a BN state assemblyman for three terms, is the PCM chairman.

PCM, which was set up four months ago, claims to have between 5,000 and 6,000 members nationwide.
