A group of people claiming to be supporters of PAS in Selangor today urged the party to withdraw from the Pakatan Rakyat pact in the state, allegedly over disappointment with the Selangor government leadership on the matter of championing Islam and the Malays.

protest demanding pas leaves pakatan 02 Its leader, Wan Hilman Abdul Rahim, said the group felt that the other partners of the pact - PKR and DAP - were neglecting PAS in the decision-making process though the party was very much in the Selangor government administration.

"We feel that PAS is being deceived and neglected in the decision-making process ... we are not happy with the way the Selangor government takes care of the people, especially the Malays, and Islamic interests.

protest demanding pas leaves pakatan "As such, we want PAS to review its position in the Pakatan Rakyat pact in Selangor," he told reporters after a peaceful demonstration by about 20 people in front of the Selangor PAS liaison office near here.

Wan Hilman, who is a member of the PAS Gombak division, said a memorandum would be handed over to Selangor PAS commissioner Dr Hasan Ali at his office tomorrow.

He denied a claim that Selangor Umno had orchestrated today's action by his group.

Salahuddin: Group has no links with PAS

Meanwhile, PAS dismissed claims that its members were in a group of people which demonstrated this morning.

"I do not know them. The group does not come under us (PAS), and this is all slanderous," he said.

Asked whether PAS planned to take legal action against the group, he said PAS was scrutinising the matter for the moment.

"We will look into that (legal action) later. Let things be for now," he said.
