A group of Malaysian Indian NGOs led by Hindu Sangam Malaysia will initiate legal action against Nasir Safar, demanding that his citizenship be revoked.

The NGOs are also seeking RM100m in compensation from Nasir for his recent inflammatory remarks.

Nasir was alleged to have said that Indians who came to Malaysia were beggers and Chinese women came to ‘ jual tubuh ’ (engage in flesh trade) at a 1Malaysia seminar in Malacca on Tuesday.

The special aide to Prime Minister, Najib Abdul Razak, had also threatened to revoke the citizenship of those making 'extreme demands' to scrap the subject cap for the SPM examination.

He has since resigned from his position and apologised for the remarks.

In a statement released following a joint meeting of Indian NGOs at Wisma Hindu Sangam Malaysia yesterday, the NGOs repeated previous demands that the government arrest Nasir under the Internal Security Act (ISA) and be charged under the Sedition Act.

"If the government fails to act, we will call on all parliamentarians and state assemblypersons representing the indian community to leave all assembly sittings, and if there if still inaction, then they should proceed to resign," read the statement.

They also stated that if their demands are not met, they will seek legal avenues to compel the government to take action against Nasir under the ISA and the Sedition Act.
