Hulu S'gor: 'No cause to complain now'

vox populi big thumbnail ‘Pakatan will have to live and fight another day. For the Malays, Chinese and Indians, they’ve made their choice. They will also have no cause to complain from now on.’

BN wins by majority of 1,500

Lahore San : PM Najib Abdul Razak and DPM Muhyiddin Yassin's bribes are beginning to tell. It must be the most expensive by-election ever. The people must be reminded that the goodies doled out by BN is because the Pakatan Rakyat had made inroads into popular support.

Keturunan Malaysia: Good work, Pakatan, but sadly, not good enough. Pakatan will have to live and fight another day. For the Malays, Chinese and Indians, they’ve made their choice. They will also have no cause to complain from now on.

Justice Bao: Sure, Pakatan lost. Every reason, no matter how good, may sound like an excuse now. But it is important to remember that the Chinese stayed true to Pakatan, so did many of the Malays, but the Indians did another Ijok on Pakatan.

Loyalty and sacrifice apparently is not a strong feature here. No amount of S Samy Vellus, A Kugans and Indira Ghandhis are going to change any of them. Nik Aziz Nik Mat must be thanking his lucky stars there aren’t many of them in Kelantan.

And Zaid, don’t worry. You would not have been defeated on a level-playing field.

MACC dared: 'Probe Najib's RM3 mill 'offer'

Wisdom:

PKR should have made the offer, not give free water or promise to help Felda settlers. Just give RM3 million. I am now confident that as a senior citizen, I will get RM1,000 and many goodies when PKR takes over Putrajaya.

Loyal Malaysian:

This is no test. It is a foregone conclusion. There shall be no action taken by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). Yes, Pakatan must make the PM honour his RM3 million pledge.

Rocky:

MACC closes both eyes when it comes to Umno/BN and frogs. MACC will not do the job they are supposed to do when it comes to Umno/BN. If it were Pakatan, they would go all out even there were no case. Let’s not forget the Teoh Beng Hock case.

The Hulu S'gor 'buy-election'

AMT:

You can see the trend. It’s Pakatan versus Umno. All the other BN component parties in this Hulu Selangor ‘buy-election’ are irrelevant, especially MIC, which just rented its candidate to Umno. MCA, Gerakan and other component parties are non-existent.

Disgusted:

All by-elections competed in by BN have been ‘buy-elections’. They use our hard-earned money plus the money contributed covertly by cronies (for example, Berjaya, etc) and other funds indirectly milked from the rakyat such as tolls, 3D and 4D licences to finance the buying of voters.

Umno will not put out one sen from their pockets to gain anything. In fact, they will pocket a few million contributed for the cause under the guise of ‘expenses’ for the by-elections. The cronies who contribute don't dare question them how they use or account for it. We should get rid of such cancer from our system.

Hulu Selangor: Voters turnout 76%

Hashim Che Mat: At the end of the day, there is a winner and a loser. Just remember that they are both Malaysians. Whatever the outcome, it is just one Malaysian having lost to a fellow Malaysian.

Whoever the victor or loser, it is still going to be a victory to Malaysia in the sense that we have once again demonstrated to the world that the process of democracy is still alive in Malaysia. It is time to demonstrate to the world that not only do we practise democracy, but civilised, gentleman’s democracy.

GK: The way of campaigning in Malaysia as shown by this by-election is still very primitive. For right-thinking Malaysians, they have made up their mind as to which party to vote. No amount of campaigning will be able to change our mind, the right-thinking Malaysians' mind.

But, of course, not all Malaysians have this 'right-thinking' mind. If not, MCA, MIC and Gerakan would have left BN after those insulting remarks by Umno fellows.

Goat: It is so pathetic and worrying to see what 52 years of regime has done to our youths. They were picked up from the streets and paid RM50 each for a day's job of taunting and thuggery. I shake my head in disbelief.
