The police recorded the statement of a witness to the shooting on Monday of a 15-year old boy in Shah Alam by police.

The witness who is said to have been with the teenager - Aminulrasyid Amzah - during the incident , gave his statement at the Selangor police headquarters in Section 9, Shah Alam.

Lawyer Gobind Singh Deo, who confirmed the witness was giving his statement today, said he was representing and accompanying him.

Met at the police headquarters, Gobind said he was informed the police investigations into the incident were almost completed and would be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action.

Gobind had arrived at the headquarters around 3pm with the witness, his family members and PAS MP for Titiwangsa Dr Lo’Lo Ghazali.

Gobind, who is also Puchong MP, said he hopes the investigations would be completed soon and see the guilty parties brought to justice.

Trauma, stress, shock

Asked about the witness, Gobind said the student was still in trauma, under stress and in a state of shock.

He added that his party DAP would submit a memorandum to the inspector general of police Musa Hassan, calling for the police to look into drawing up guidelines for the use of firearms.

Gobind said he understands the police need to carry firearms for self-defence, but “the issue is when they are to be use.”

“We hope (the memorandum can be sent) tomorrow, but we will discuss it with PAS and PKR beforehand,” said Gobind.

On whether the witness would take legal action against the police, Gobind said the matter would be considered later.

“What is important now is that just, free and transparent investigations are carried out,” he said.

In related developments, a lawyer of Aminulrashid's family, Puspawati Rosman, told Malaysiakini that Aminulrasyid's mother, Norsiah Mohamad and her son-in-law Muzaffar Mahali also recorded their statements at the headquarters.

Besides Puspawati, the family had also engaged the legal services of Latheefa Koya and Farhana Abdul Halim, both in attendance on behalf of the family.

Farhana, who had arrived at 6pm told Malaysiakini that her clients had finished their testimony at around 9pm.

She was unsure if they would be called again for further testimony.

Farhana then added that the main witness - Aminulrasyid's friend - finished his testimony earlier. She was, however, unable to give an exact time.

Malaysiakini has not been able to contact the family of Aminulrasyid's friend as yet.
