The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will appeal against the acquittal of two former Perak exco members of corruption.
Chief commissioner Abu Kassim Mohamed said its legal and prosecution division would be filing a notice of appeal against the Ipoh Sessions Court decision soon.
"The process is not over until the highest court makes a decision," Abu Kassim told reporters after handing the MACC annual report to chairman of the Special Committee on Corruption Mohd Radzi Sheikh Ahmad at parliament building in Kuala Lumpur today.
Changkat Jering state assemblyperson Mohd Osman Jailu, 59, and Behrang state assemblyperson Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi, 54, were charged with 16 counts of accepting and asking for bribes over a RM180 million project in Seri Iskandar about two years ago.
They were jointly charged with former Bota assemblyman Usaili Alias, 58, former Perak Tengah district councillor Zul Hassan, 48, and contractor Fairul Azrim Ismail, 32.
Zul was alleged to have received a bribe in the form of a woman for the purpose of having sex at 8.10pm on Aug 14 last year at the Sri Sayang Apartment in Penang.
Osman and Jamaluddin who were former PKR elected representatives had quit the party to become independent assemblypersons.
Abu Kassim said MACC was investigating several reports of corruption during Hulu Selangor by-election recently.
The MACC annual report containing activities last year also comes with a 12-page commentary by the advisory board.
Meanwhile, Radzi said the committee would study the contents to prepare a report for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak who would be tabling it in Parliament.
