Finally, the controversial Do Re Mi treehouse cafe in Tanjung Bungah was demolished by the Penang Island Municipal Council (MPPP) today.

The stall owner, Johar Ismail, 34, who refused to leave his tree house, told reporters that he was extremely disappointed with the Penang state government for not helping him.

About 50 enforcement officers from MPPP, Lands and Mines Department (PTG), Fire and Rescue Department and police were at the scene as early as 8am.

Penang Malay Chamber of Commerce (PMCC) president Rizal Faris Mohideen, who arrived at the scene at about 9.45am managed to persuade Johar to come down from the tree house.

Rizal Faris said he would meet Deputy Chief Minister I Mansor Othman to discuss the matter.

Early this year, the first attempt to demolish the tree-top stall was postponed after a request by a patron who was scheduled to hold a wedding reception there.
