Newly appointed Felda chairperson Isa Abd Samad said today that he will use his experience to counter opposition slander against the land development authority.

Isa said the opposition had been telling lies about Felda from its early days as a tactic to make the people disbelieve the government.

The first generation of Felda settlers had become numb with the lies and they were not fooled by the slander, he told reporters after launching a farmers carnival in Telok Kemang.

"The opposition think that they can make settlers gradually lose faith in the government by sowing doubts," he said.

Despite the opposition lies, Isa said, most Felda settlers voted for BN in the last general election.

He said there was no reason for settlers not to support the government which had improved their livelihood.

"Felda does not have many problems. If all that the opposition allege about Felda are true, its land schemes would be empty," Isa said.
