In a statement today, DAP vice-chairperson Tan Kok Wai (
right
) said that all Pakatan leaders and members must adhere to the joint decision made by the coalition leadership on July 19.
He said that the Pakatan leadership had decided that all seat allocation matters must be resolved internally.
“DAP members are reminded that where there is any disagreement that cannot be resolved at the state leadership level, it will be referred to the Pakatan national leadership for resolution.
“In this regard, DAP rank-and-file leaders and members are advised to refrain from making any public statements which may be misconstrued as if Pakatan coalition members are involved in a spat over seat negotiations.
“It is imperative that all Pakatan coalition members uphold and promote the spirit of unity, cooperation and trust on which this coalition is based,” said Tan.
He revealed that seat negotiations are still ongoing in several states but notes that there are “positive strides” emerging as the Sept 30 deadline looms.
Yesterday evening, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail issued a similar statement, singling out hostilities between Johor Pakatan parties.
“I advise all leaders in PKR, PAS and DAP in Johor and other states to abide by the directive issued by the Pakatan presidential council, to respect and accept the concept of Pakatan cooperation that emphasises on mutual respect,” he said.
Johor DAP and PKR leaders have been exchanging angry words over claims to the Ledang and Gelang Patah parliamentary seats over the past few days.
