Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the committee would comprise religious leaders, legal experts and senior government officers.
"The Selangor government will not look back on this issue. Rather, we will enhance awareness on the need to strengthen Jais' enforcement and gathering of evidence," he said in a statement today.
Khalid also said the state government abided by the Sultan of Selangor's statement today that a check conducted by Jais at the Dream Centre in Petaling Jaya on Aug 3 was right, within its jurisdiction and did violate any law.
Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah said he had studied the Jais report on the investigation conducted during a thanksgiving dinner at the church premises and after obtaining advice from religious and legal experts, he agreed that no legal action be taken against any quarters.
Khalid described the sultan's statement as the most appropriate and fair decision and took into account the multi-racial and religious harmony in the state in particular and Malaysia in general.
"As the people of Selangor, we must respect and accept this address with an open heart and positive (attitude) as His Royal Highness is the head of state and a place where the multi-racial society seeks patronage," he said.
In the incident, Jais officers, who were accompanied by policemen, conducted a check at a multiracial thanksgiving dinner at Damansara Utama Methodist Church's Dream Centre in Jalan 13/1, after receiving complaints of an alleged attempt to proselytise Muslims at the function.
Twelve Muslims were detained and they have been ordered to present themselves at the Shah Alam Syariah Court on Oct 19.
