Hasan used by Himpun to embarrass PAS

VOXPOP 'If he had attended in his personal capacity, why was he given the honour to recite the closing prayers, knowing full well this was tantamount to a slap on PAS' face?'

PAS: No action on Hasan for defying Himpun ban

Dark Knight: As the state executive councillor in charge of Islamic affairs, Hasan Ali should be censured for attending the Himpun rally.

If he had attended in his personal capacity, why was he given the honour to recite the closing prayers, knowing full well this was tantamount to a slap on PAS' face?

The intention of the organisers was to embarrass PAS, and Hasan Ali was their vehicle to do so. It's about time PAS took a firmer stand rather than giving lame excuses for their inaction over Hasan Ali.

Mohd: It seems that a lot of people still don't understand the concept of democracy that PAS adheres to.

I am by no means a supporter of Hasan Ali and his comrades. But as a PAS active member, I fully understand how PAS system works.

We believe very strongly that free speech and action (yes, PAS not only practises democracy, but practises the full blown version of it) should be given to all members.

If people remember, just few months ago when PAS was still controlled by a pro-unity group, other members protested without restriction.

No serious action was taken against any of us. Why? Because we put our money where our mouth is.

However, democracy stops when it runs against the teaching of Allah, e.g. belittling other people, race, religion, etc.

Just for your information, not only I didn't attend the so-called Congregation of a Million event, but I also managed to dissuade a few of my friends from doing so.

Ksn: What a silly excuse from PAS. What if Tok Guru Nik Aziz Nik Mat had attended? Will PAS say the same thing?

Hasan Ali is a PAS member and an exco member to boot, representing PAS in the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat government.

He disobeyed a party decision and directive. This is all the excuse PAS can come out with justifying Hasan's attendance at the Himpunan of the fanatics, which was no doubt a fiasco.

What is so special about Hasan Ali to PAS or for Pakatan, for that matter? He is someone is very much along the lines of Perak mufti Harussani Zakaria and Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali.

He has been sabotaging PAS and Pakatan for quite some time now and from the public point of view, he is a liability to both PAS and Pakatan. The earlier he goes, the better.

NGO claims plot to remove 'religion' from MyKad

Dood: Actually, removing religion and even ‘bin' and ‘binti' as well as ‘A/L', ‘A/P', and ‘anak' would be a positive step in doing away with discrimination and providing all citizens regardless of race or religion, equal treatment in this area.

The win-win solution, of course, is to make such things optional. But I wonder if even such an idea can be accepted by extremists.

Artchan: ‘Bin' or ‘binti' in your name will not make you a good Muslim. A rose by any other name still smells as nice.

I wonder the Muslims in Indonesia or China or the rest of the world are so paranoid on having or not having ‘bin' and ‘binti' to their name.

Makcik Har: ‘Bin' and ‘binti' can cause you great problems when buying plane tickets or filling embarkation and disembarkation cards.

My sister got stranded at Coolangatta Airport in the Gold Coast enroute to Sydney because when booking online, I put ‘Mohd Noor' as the surname when the check-in official insisted that our surname is ‘Binti Mohd Noor'.

How many times do you have to explain to people the world over that only in backward countries, the people use ‘son of' and ‘daughter of'?

So 1Malaysia is now going back to the Middle Ages.

David Dass: "‘But the effect is that children born out of wedlock would be legally registered and will destroy family institutions and the faith of Muslims in this country,' he (Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) president Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman) was quoted as saying."

I was not aware that children born out of wedlock are not registered. Non-registration of births in this country will result in children not being admitted into schools.

Must innocent children be punished for the sins of their parents? And has non-registration of children born out of wedlock resulted in a reduction in children born out of wedlock ?

Q..!: Muslim NGOs are recently painting a picture that all Muslims are so weak in their faith and any Tom, Dick and Harry can influence them. All the hues and cries indicating Islam is weak religion and its believers can be converted easily.

Are these NGOs protecting the Islam or humilating it?

Samuel Ng: Another Muslim NGO? How many members did this one contribute to Himpun gathering last Saturday?
