Former Selangor PAS commissioner Hasan Ali has pledged his allegiance to the “party struggle” and called for all parties to stop “sensationalising” the issue of his candidacy in the next general election.
"My principles are not threatened by reactions from PAS leaders.
“Whether or not I would be dropped from the 13th general election, it should not be sensationalised.
“I remain loyal to PAS' struggle as enshrined in the party constitution," Sinar Harian today quoted Hasan ( left ) as saying.
The state exco member also said he will be holding a press conference soon to address "all baseless accusations and imputations" from the party leadership.
He was responding to comments from PAS leaders, such as secretary-general Mustafa Ali alleging Hasan was "dancing to the tune of (Umno's) agenda" and vice-president Mahfuz Omar suggesting that he should leave the party.
Hasan has been linked to a PAS faction in favour of a proposal to form an Umno-PAS unity government , and had came under fire since Monday after expressing willingness to be appointed by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to unite the Malays and Muslims.
Earlier, Selangor PAS information chief Saari Sungib had revealed that Hasan may not be able to defend his state seat Gombak Setia in the upcoming elections because he lacks the nominations needed.
Despite this, PAS Youth and ulama council had both supported the embattled exco member for Islamic affairs.
