Selangor senior exco member Teresa Kok today furnished proof that the state had indeed alienated two plots of land for two Chinese schools in Puchong, contrary to claims by Deputy Education Minister Wee Ka Siong.

In a statement today, Kok said the exco decided on the matter on Sept 23 last year. The land in question are lot 65,768 and lot 65,766 in Tasik Prima.

The two plots of land are meant for SMJK Katholik and SJKC Yak Chee to build branch schools. Portions of the land were also for an autism training centre.

“The exco paper on this decision is Kertas MMK. No. 46/40/2011,” revealed Kok, stressing that the schools have copies of the said document.

In addition to this, a letter was sent to the Education Ministry secretary-general informing him of the land approval and the state’s support for the schools’ intention to build branches.

“Therefore now, as long as the Education Ministry approves the construction of these two branch schools, then the schools can submit the applications to start earth works,” she said.

NONE Previously, Wee ( left ) had accused the state government of failing to alienate the land and instead merely provide letters supporting the wishes of the two schools.

Commenting on this, Kok said that Wee was distorting the facts and it is the Education Ministry which has barred the schools from building branches.

The two schools are reportedly over-saturated, with SJKC Yak Chee, Puchong having to cope with 8,600 students.

Kok claimed Wee’s accusations against the Selangor government were an attempt to cover up the fact that MCA has no influence in the Education Ministry.

“They are unable to get the necessary approval for the two schools to build branch schools,” said Kok.
