The MIC has no plans to hold any debate with the opposition just like the recent debate between MCA and DAP, said its deputy president Dr S Subramaniam.

However, he said the debate was a platform for the people to know the policies and stand of both parties on several major issues that were raised.

"I think it is an opportunity in which the people were informed on different views, situations and stance (of both parties) and the people can do a proper assessment for themselves.

"I feel it is not a necessity for us (to hold debate) but if there are people who want to do, they can do it... we will not do it," he said after launching the 'My Career 2012' carnival at the Skudai Multipurpose Hall in Johor Baru today.

He was asked to comment on the debate between MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, who is also DAP secretary-general, yesterday.

Subramaniam said no one emerged as a winner or loser in the one-hour debate.
