The prosecution in the Anwar Ibrahim Sodomy II trial is working hard to file its petition of appeal after the written judgment was released yesterday.

azlan The appellate and trial division chief with the Attorney-General's Chambers, Kamaluddin Md Said, said they have 10 days from yesterday to file the petition.

"Yes, we are working on the petition of appeal," Kamaluddin said.

"We received the judgment from the court yesterday afternoon."

The 80-page judgment written by Justice Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah in January acquitted Anwar on the charge of sodomy, the second such charge that he has faced.

On Jan 20, the prosecution filed a notice of appeal against Anwar's acquittal.

The petition of appeal to be filed by the prosecution on Wednesday, July 12, will include the record of appeal, which also has the full written judgment, and the grounds of the appeal.

Anwar's lead counsel Karpal Singh also confirmed with Malaysiakini that he received the full written judgment yesterday afternoon.
