A law firm in the capital is alleged to have furnished false information in an official letter to lawyers in France, stating Suara Rakyat Malaysia (Suaram) was a registered organisation under Suara Inisiatif Sendirian Berhad (SISB).

azlan The matter was revealed by member of parliament MP Wee Choo Keong (Independent-Wangsa Maju) who claimed that Suaram had received millions of ringgit.  

"The law firm involved appears to have a 'grand design' to cover up these activities in order to tarnish our country's image," he said during the 2013 Supply Bill debate at the Dewan Rakyat, here today.   

He also questioned as to why there was no legal action taken against Suaram after the investigation on them a month ago.    

To this, Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob responded that his Ministry was informed the attorney-general (AG) wanted to obtain a report from the Registrar of Societies on the matter first.   

"The AG said there was some link between Suaram and SISB. The AG wants to establish the link between the two to prove claims of money received by SISB being channeled to Suaram," he said.  

The Dewan sits again tomorrow.
