The Registrar of Societies (ROS) can begin investigations into DAP following the party's failure to submit its report to the body yesterday, Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said today.

NONE According to Bernama , he said DAP was supposed to submit its annual report within 60 days after its central executive committee (CEC) election on Dec 12, last year, but it had not done so.

The deadline was yesterday.

"This is no different from Umno which was banned before. We'll follow the existing law.

"We wait for the deadline and it was yesterday. ROS will take the necessary action," he told reporters after closing the 'Jelajah Anak Malaysia' programme at the Pancarona Mini Stadium in Putrajaya.

DAP leaders deny claims

However, several DAP leaders have denied Hishammuddin's claim, arguing that the report had been submitted on Feb 8.

“The home minister is lying that DAP did not submit report to ROS. The report was submitted by hands on Feb 8. I will prove it tomorrow!” said DAP national organising secretary Anthony Loke on his Twitter webpage.

DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang said Hishammuddin's statement was “most shocking indicating mala fide as home minister”.

“What will Hishammuddin do as home minister if DAP can prove that DAP has submitted elections returns to ROS before Chinese New Year?” he asked on Twitter.

The party will call a press conference tomorrow morning at its national headquarters to rebut Hishammuddin.
