The MCA Pandan candidate, lawyer Gary Lim, said that he was warned of attempts to sabotage his candidacy for the parliamentary seat.
The MCA Pandan candidate, lawyer Gary Lim, said that he was warned of attempts to sabotage his candidacy for the parliamentary seat.
"My car was broken into the day after I got my watikah (letter of appointment), and the bag which I used to carry the watikah was stolen. Luckily, the watikah was not in there.
"The Special Branch warned me that there may be attempts to sabotage my watikah ," Lim who is also the Chinese party's legal bureau head told Malaysiakini today.
He said this when asked to comment on whether allegations that he is being investigated for misconduct by the Malaysian Bar are part of a smear campaign against his candidacy.
On that matter, Lim ( above ) said that he is unaware of any investigations and is in turn probing the claim being carried by online news portals.
He declined any further comment until he has received official correspondence from the Bar, informing him of any investigation as per procedure or once he has further information on the alleged charge against him.
News portals today reported that Lim faces a hearing before the disciplinary committee of the Advocates and Solicitors Disciplinary Board after the Bar received complaints of legal misrepresentation and potential fraud against the 38-year-old involving a major legal firm.
Bogus degree
Meanwhile, BN Seputeh candidate Nicole Wong ( left ) has denied the allegations made by DAP election strategist Ong Kian Ming, who claimed that her Masters in Business Administration was obtained from illegal channels and not from a reputable institution.
Stressing that she did not conceal anything about her qualifications or services to the people, Wong said she obtained her Masters after two years by working hard and studying part-time to complete it.
"I question Ong's motives to spread the rumours about me.
"I am aware that this was done deliberately to defame me.
"But in any case, I will reserve the right to pursue legal action against Ong," she said in a press release, responding to the latter's allegations of several BN candidates having dubious tertiary qualifications .
