The police, which are already investigating the Black 505 rallies in four states, have hauled up three more Pakatan leaders, this time in Perak.

In a statement today, Simpang Pulai state assemblyperson Tan Kar Hing said Ipoh Timur PKR vice-chairperson Lam Ching Keong was today summoned by police to provide his statement.

Anuar Zakaria Tan said he himself, along with Perak PKR secretary Anuar Zakaria ( right ), had given their statements to the police last week over the Black rally aimed at protesting against alleged fraud in the recently concluded general election on May 5.

Tan said they were being investigated under Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act for failing to notify police about the rally in Ipoh on May 12.

“The police’s action of summoning and investigating organisers of the nationwide Black rallies, particularly the charging of Seri Setia state assemblyperson Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, is clearly politically motivated.

“The police are attempting to intimidate the public from participating in any more of these rallies,” said Tan.

Nik Nazmi was charged on May 17 with failing to give a 10-day notice for the Black rally in Kelana Jaya , Selangor which attracted over 100,000 people.

DCM also to be hauled up

In Negri Sembilan, state PKR Youth chief Nazree Yunus said two police officers had visited his home on the night of May 18 for him to present himself at the Seremban district police headquarters.

He subsequently gave his statement at 11am yesterday with regards to the Black rally in Oakland, Seremban.

In Penang, George Town OCPD assistant commissioner Gan Kong Meng yesterday said police will call up Pakatan leaders including Penang Deputy Chief Minister I Mohd Rashid Hasnon and state exco member Law Heng Kiang ( right ) for their involvement in a similar rally in the state.

Meanwhile in Johor, state PKR deputy secretary Steven Choong said police had recorded a statement from state executive secretary R Yunesvawaran.

“Police said that there would be surely someone who will be charged,” he said.
