The police have asked Pakatan Rakyat to change the date and venue of its gathering planned for Thursday in Kuala Ibai in Kuala Terengganu to comply with the law and avoid massive traffic congestion.

Kuala Terengganu police chief ACP Zamri Shamsuddin said the organiser had failed to comply with the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 for the notice was filed only yesterday, less than 10 days as required under the Act.
He said the venue was deemed unsuitable for it was located near the main road and residential areas while the area chosen was rather small for a gathering and could pose a threat to public safety.
Speaking to reporters in Kuala Terengganu today, he said the police would take legal action against the organiser if it were to defy the rules.
