A police report has been lodged against Malaysiakini for uploading a transcript of a controversial speech by former Court of Appeal judge Mohd Noor Abdullah.

NONE The police report was lodged by lawyer Mohd Khairul Azam Abdul Aziz ( right ) in his capacity as Kelab Warisan Malaysia (Keris) president at the Dang Wangi police station today.

He claimed that Malaysiakini's intention was sedition and he believed that this was an offence under Section 505(c) of the Penal Code and Sedition Act 1948.

Section 505(c) of the Penal Code relates to actions conducive to public mischief.

He said that the speech was made at a closed ceremony and organisers did not intend to have its content made public.

The forum was titled, 'GE13 post-mortem: Muslim leadership and survival' and held in Kuala Lumpur.

'Speech not racist'

Mohd Khairul noted that Mohd Noor's speech was constructive and was in line with the federal constitution.

"His speech should not be considered racist because he is only speaking about stipulations in the constitution," said Mohd Khairul, according to Bernama .

Contrary to claims by Mohd Khairul, many mainstream news organisations were represented at the event and had reported on it.

In fact, the event had also been publicised by Bernama , the federal government's news agency, before it was held.
