SABAH RCI The Lahad Datu district police chief (OCPD) Shamsudin Mat today denied he had any prior knowledge of the Sulu incursion into Kg Tanduo earlier this year.

Shamsudin, who requested to appear as a witness before the royal commission of inquiry (RCI) into immigrants in Sabah, said that he never telephoned and warned the district officer about the incursion beforehand.

On Tuesday, Lahad Datu DO Zulkifli Nasir told the commission that Shamsudin had informed him of the possible incursion  two weeks prior to it happening.

But Shamsudin today said that he never made the call as he himself was never aware of the incursion before it happened.

“I deny ever telling him that,” Shamsudin said in his brief testimony before the commission today.

He said that Zulkifli himself had told Shamsudin that the former was “misquoted” in talking about the incursion.

Shamsudin said he “did not know” why Zulkifli had made such a statement.
