Penang Malay Congress president (KMPP), Rahmad Isahak, also a DAP member, today officially quit DAP as he was disillusioned with the so-called multiracial party, labelling it a racist and anti-Malay party.

Penang Malay Congress president (KMPP) Rahmad Isahak 4 He said he had earlier received a dismissal letter dated April 24 but claimed his sacking was not valid as the DAP central executive committee (CEC) was not recognised by the Registrar of Societies due to irregularities detected in the party’s election last year.

Rahmad, who had been Bayan Baru branch member since 2012, cut his DAP membership card into two pieces to demonstrate his utter disappointment with the party a day before the CEC election tomorrow.

"I hope party members will exercise their rights to elect new credible leaders to the CEC and urge delegates to help shed its image as a family-dominated party in the polls tomorrow," he told reporters in George Town today.

Rahmad said several Malay leaders, among them former Johor DAP chief Ahmad Ton and former vice-chairman Zulkifli Mohd Noor, remained loyal and have contributed immensely to the party but were not given due recognition.
