Go ahead Ali Rustam, shut down 'haram businesses'

YOURSAY 'Why lament when the law allows non-Muslims to indulge in them? Didn't you and the rest of the gov't not benefit from these so-called ‘haram' activities?'

Ali Rustam defends 'illegal Chinese businesses' remarks

AntiRacial: Umno veep hopeful Mohd Ali Rustam said, "I am just saying that the Chinese can run certain businesses that are ‘haram' for Muslims - casinos, lotteries, gambling and Ah Long (money lending services)."

You forgot that these businesses still pay tax, so the tax money the government receives should also be ‘haram'. So how come the government uses this ‘haram' money to run the administration?

Anonymous #02382443: Please choose your words correctly, Ali Rustam. Illegal means you run foul of the law. If you are licensed, then it is not illegal.

For those activities run without licence and hence illegal, what has the government done to arrest the issue? We are with you but you have chosen to turn a blind eye in allowing the Ah Longs, for example, to flourish.

Onyourtoes: What is the point for you to lament that some activities are ‘haram' to Muslims when the law has allowed the non-Muslims to indulge in them? Didn't you and the rest of the government not benefit from these so-called ‘haram' activities?

What about corruption? The law does not allow it and it is also ‘haram'. Did you ever condemn it as vehemently you have 4D, casino and Ah Longs? Is it because corruption is "universal" and therefore tolerated, while 4D and gambling are "Chinese"?

Why keep blaming the Chinese for your electoral defeat? It was your son's wedding that caused your defeat, not the Chinese. We are saying your ranting is racist. Now you tell us which part of Lim Guan Eng's and Karpal Singh's statements are racist? Spell it out.

Chks: What is ‘haram' in Islam does not mean it is illegal from the legal point of view. It is still legal although in Islam you may label as ‘haram' - something that non-Muslims are not bothered with as long as it does not deliberately induce Muslims to do it, and as long as it is legal. Eating pork is ‘haram', but it is not illegal, for example.

Just Me: By all means, please close down the Genting casino and the 4D, Magnum and even Sports Toto betting outlets. We are all for it.

After all, they are run by cronies of some of these crooked politicians anyway.

Davidfsc: Mohd Ali, corruption by the billions is not ‘haram'? Telling lies on Utusan Malaysia is not ‘haram'? Collecting tax from casinos is not ‘haram', bribing voters is not ‘haram', murder by C4 is not ‘haram'? The list goes on and on.

Just go look at yourself in the mirror and ask your conscience what is ‘haram'. Then again, when you are a member of a shameless party, you have no conscience.

PS: This man belongs to a fascist party. When it comes to crunch time in their party elections, all candidates will thump their chest and beat the war drum to sway voters to their side, and the more ultra they are the more appealing they become.

They are not educated to be the thinking man who highlights and debates national issues. The easy way out and the more appealing to the grassroots is to 'defend Malay rights' and the active ingredients (which are already stale) always involve bashing the non-Malays.

I would really like to see more Umno leaders in the shades of Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin, former higher education deputy minister Saifuddin Abdullah and some other liberated minds. It's pathetic that there are so few Umno leaders who can be future nation builders.

Anonymous #19895825 : Mohd Ali, please don't hoodwink the Malays - that the Chinese are the ones running all the illegal businesses. They are not stupid like what you think.

When you were the Malacca chief minister, they were doing such illegal businesses right under your nose, perhaps with your approval.

Why you did not take action then? Why did you allow them to go on? Could it be that you have a share or benefited from it?

Malaccan: Mohd Ali said Muslims are not allowed to do bad things. But that concept is not exclusive to Muslims. There are also many bad Muslims running illegal businesses, including prostitution and drugs.

Look at his own party members, which is generally linked to massive corruption and involved in other heinous crimes. Mohd Ali is a racist without a doubt when he points to other races but does not point to his own.

Wiser: At 64, Mohd Ali, you have not learned to live amicably with the other races. Given the position you are in, you still seek glory and wealth at the expense of other races. At 64, you are still not satisfied with what you have got.

Under the pretence of the good of your race, you seek to control them by instilling in them the fear of other races. You mislead them without any consideration for their real welfare, their needs to face the world with good education, real economic competitiveness, and to be independent and not depend on the government.

At 64, you still lie through your teeth. At 64, you still don't care about the future of Malaysia and Malaysians, and its position in this globalised world. Lastly, at 64, you have the maturity of yes, you said it, of a 24-year-old tout.

You knew exactly what you meant when you made those racist remarks. Shame on you and despicable likes of you who use the weakness of your own race for your own needs.

Anonymous #07443216: Mohd Ali, don't be stupid. The reason PDRM (Royal Malaysia Police) is probing you for sedition is because of your own Umno's power play, not because of reports made by the opposition.

There are people in your own backyard who want you out. Don't blame everything on the Chinese. If the Chinese are that influential you would have been begging on the sidestreets a long time ago.

Bystander: Mohd Ali you are spot on. Yes, you conveniently and strategically leave the other races to run your so-called ‘haram' businesses, but you still get the lion's share of the loot.

In this way, you can still appear holier than thou and richer by the day. But Allah knows what you are doing and it is a matter of time he will take you to account on Judgement Day.

Stried: Mohd Ali reminds me of a person I once met at a hawker stall, who had just come out from a gambling session and then asked my friend whether the food is ‘halal' or not.
