Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana) will add another 120 buses for Rapid Penang to improve the public transport services in Penang in the next two years, said Prasarana Group managing director Shahril Mokhtar.

He said the additional buses would benefit about 80,000 users of Rapid Penang which currently has 350 buses operating on the island.

“The visit by the Penang Yang di-Pertua Negeri, Dr Abdul Rahman Abbas, today has resulted in a joint discussion on efforts to integrate the public transport services in the state which is a tourist destination,” he said at a media conference after the visit by Abdul Rahman to Wisma Monorel and observing the operations of the RapidKL monorail services in Kuala Lumpur today.

Shahril said also discussed at the meeting was cooperaton with Penang Port to improve the ferry service in the state.

He said Prasarana would discuss the matter with the Finance Ministry, Penang government and Penang Port soon.
