Guan Eng: Zahid is a minister with no standards
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has described Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as a “minister with no standards”.
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has described Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as a “minister with no standards”.
“ Tak ada standard punya menteri ,” Lim said during a press conference held after a visit to the Air Itam market with new Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh to thank voters for his victory.
Lim said Zahid has no standards because he continues to launch personal attacks on DAP’s Teluk Intan candidate, Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud.
Talking about Dyana’s “lack of beauty” in real life is an insult to the young female candidate, he said.
“What does he mean when he said that Dyana is not really pretty? That she looks pretty only on posters?” the DAP secretary-general asked.
“Please stop the personal attacks. Is there nothing else to discuss in this campaign? No other issues? We want to discuss the people’s issues,” he said.
“Umno and BN have no more capital or issues until they have to make personal attacks which are not relevant to the campaign at all. We will not go down to their level,” he added.
“He is not being a good human being,” Lim quipped.
Lim was referring to Zahid who said that he did not think Dyana was “very pretty” but merely photogenic.
“She came and shook my hands on nomination day. She is not even that pretty. On the posters, she looks pretty, but in real life, not very pretty,” he had said in Teluk Intan on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Lim said Ramkarpal ( left ) had created history in Bukit Gelugor last night where almost 90 percent of the voters who voted had cast their votes for him, while his three opponents lost their deposits.
However, he expressed hope that the party can create “a miracle” in Teluk Intan.
Dyana may be received well by all levels of society and all ethnic groups, but BN is still ahead of the DAP, Lim claimed.
He attributes this to the recent announcement of a RM5 billion highway project in Teluk Intan by Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
