MCA wants Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to bare his fangs in the ongoing Bible imbroglio involving the recalcitrant Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais).

In defending Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail, MCA Wanita chief Heng Seai Kee said Gani has performed his duty and now the ball is in the Selangor menteri besar's court.

"It is the Selangor menteri besar's turn to unleash his political courage to order the return of the copies of the Bible," MCA Wanita chief Heng Seai Kie said in a statement today.

In view of this, Heng ( right ) urged the Selangor government and Mais to return the seized copies of the Bible as soon as possible and ensure that such incidents would not recur.

"Return the Bible, pronto!" she said.

The MCA leader also trained her guns on Muslim NGO - Pertubuhan Ahli Sunnah Walamaah Malaysia (Aswaja) - for criticising the AG for his decision on the Bible issue and calling on him to quit.

"This NGO is simply a religious extremist organisation and lawless," Heng said.

"I admire Gani's handling of the Bible issue in a professional and fair manner. He was not influenced by his own religion when making the decision, which is commendable.

"The NGO Aswaja is chauvinistic and it is practising the ideology of ‘those who submit will perish and those who resist will perish’ by forcing Gani to quit," she added.

The Islamist NGO had taken issue with Gani's stance that copies of the Bible confiscated were merely a compilation of the Torah, Zabur and Gospel and no prosecution was required.

"This statement is against Islamic faith, which stresses that the Bible has been modified and added on by humans.

"If he (Gani) stands by this doctrine, he has clearly deviated from Islamic teaching which could cause him to become an apostate," Aswaja president Zamihan Mat Zin said in a statement.
