Gerakan Youth leader Tan Keng Liang ( left ) said that if DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang was sincere in his offer to work with BN on prevent another May 13, he should ensure DAP takes serious action against Ramasamy first.
"Such a statement is irresponsible and totally uncalled for. To date, Ramasamy has not retracted his challenge or issued any apology for his outburst," Tan said in a press statement
A war of words between DAP MPs and BN party leaders including four ministers, were sparked off yesterday by deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s remark over the weekend.
He had said that many Muslims had complained of provocation and therefore, alluded that a repeat of a racial riot which rocked the nation on May 13, 1969, was not impossible .
DAP's Ramasamy had allegedly said that while Gerakan, MCA and MIC might be frightened by this statement, DAP was not afraid.
Meanwhile, Umno MP for Kepala Batas, Reezal Merican Naina Merican ( right ), also flayed Ramasamy for his "immature" reaction.
"To openly issue a challenge, that May 13 incident be brought back, is something that cannot be fathomed by a rational mind.
"This is a statement from someone with rank in DAP Penang. Is this the official DAP statement? Does DAP really want to see May 13 repeat itself?" said Reezal Merican in a press statement.
Reezal then turned personal and attacked Ramasamy's character.
"Once more, a DAP leader, shows rudeness, poor upbringing and acts like a gangster," Reezal said.
"We have had enough of leaders like Ramasamy who takes on the role of sparking racial issues among the community. Malaysia does not need leaders with low self-consciousness like this."
