Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said he accepts PAS’ decision on the Selangor menteri besar post and state executive council with an open heart.

Following this latest development, the beleaguered menteri besar said he would meet the state ruler to "advise him on the subsequent steps".

"Until the sultan makes a final decision, I will continue administering the state with the four excos from PAS to ensure that the rakyat will not be affected by the political crisis," he added in a statement.

He also expressed gratitude to all quarters involved in finding a solution to this issue and for the latest developments which have been in accordance with procedure and the law.

"Insya Allah (God willing), may Allah continue to bless the people of Selangor," he added.

This morning, PAS central committee decided to back PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and her deputy Azmin Ali to replace Khalid.

The Islamic party also agreed that its four excos would remain in their posts until Khalid is replaced.

PAS had claimed that its decision to retain the excos is to prevent the appointment of Umno reps and the sultan consenting to a minority government.

Khalid had previously sacked the PKR and DAP excos for refusing to support him.

Last week, Wan Azizah revealed that 30 of the 56 state assemblypersons in Selangor are backing her to replace Khalid.

Meanwhile, Universiti Malaya law professor Gurdial Singh said PAS’ decision showed that the party rejected Khalid as menteri besar.

"With this (majority), the law requires the MB to tender his resignation.

"If he does not do so his post as MB and that of his exco is automatically vacated. There is no need for his royal highness to dismiss the exco and the MB," he added in a statement.
