P KUBOR PAS’ Pengkalan Kubor by-election director Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man today asked the Election Commission (EC) to monitor and remove posters and banners that it says were “provocative” against the party.
Tuan Ibrahim ( right ) said that there are worries that the posters, which bore BN’s signature, would create an a sentiment that is “not good” among the voters, especially as the issue raised in the posters “were not related” to the by-election.
Among others, the banners played up quotes from PAS leaders that exposed the party’s infighting and internal struggle in the face of the current Selangor menteri besar crisis.
“The banners which are provocative, we hope the EC can monitor and take them down,” he said during a press conference at the Pengkalan Kubor PAS by-election headquarters.
He said that the party expects the political climate in the by-election for the final three days of campaigning to “heat up”.
Among the banners put up is one quoting PAS deputy spiritual leader Haron Din which had said that groups close to PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim are relentlessly attacking the party’s ulama wing.
Another displayed a quote from PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang himself, in which he had called his own party members “lackeys”.
Before this, both PAS and BN had traded barbs through banners regarding the oil royalty issue.
PAS had been taking digs at BN for not channeling oil royalty back to the state government, while BN had retorted by calling PAS’ claims “slander”.
