Umno leader: Pro-Azizah faction may sabotage MB

The appointment of Azmin Ali as the new menteri besar of Selangor will not mend the cracks in PKR and Pakatan Rakyat, said a veteran Umno leader.
In a blog posting yesterday, Syed Ali Alhabshee also dismissed Azmin as nothing more than Anwar Ibrahim's "errand boy".
He said Azmin's appointment has angered supporters of PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as well as the PAS ulamma, who wanted someone from the Islamic party to take over the menteri besar post.
"I am confident that the verbal jousting between PKR, DAP and PAS leaders will not abate, they will continue to attack (each other).
"I also believe that those who support Wan Azizah in PKR are uncomfortable with Azmin and will sabotage (him)," he added.
Syed Ali also said PKR leaders like Rafizi Ramli, Saifuddin Nasution and Badrul Hisham have lost face with Azmin becoming the menteri besar.
"This is the same for the ulamma in PAS who wanted their party member to become MB, they will not keep quiet," he added.
The Cheras Umno leader also did not discount the possibility that Azmin, on the advice of Anwar, would shortchange PAS with regard to the appointment of the new exco lineup.
This, he added, would be done in retaliation to PAS’ open objection to Wan Azizah helming the state.
According to Syed Ali, PKR and DAP are already on the verge of expelling PAS from Pakatan due to their differences with the Islamic party.
"PKR and DAP see PAS as rubbish and useless to the Pakatan struggle, especially in the political crisis in Selangor," he added.
