Congratulating newly-minted Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali on his appointment, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng expressed hope today that the PKR deputy president would carry out his duties according to Pakatan Rakyat principles.
"We hope Azmin will care for the welfare of all the people in Selangor, and not only certain quarters," said Lim, who is also the chief minister of Penang.
However, he declined to respond when asked if DAP would request for more posts in the Selangor executive council.
Azmin became the 15th menteri besar of Selangor following the sultan's decision to appoint him to the post yesterday, to take over from Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
The ruler went against PKR's decision to appoint its president, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, to the post, and he called on the Pakatan Rakyat parties to propose more than one name for the post.
The crisis pitted PKR and DAP against PAS, threatening a split in Pakatan after PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang publicly rejected Azizah's appointment as the next menteri besar.
