DAP Youth has joined its PKR counterpart in rapping a PAS Youth leader for comments about the possibility of PAS exiting the Pakatan coalition as reported in the media.

DAP Youth's national vice-chief Wong King Wei said if PAS was mulling an eventual exit from Pakatan, it would only be the fault of the Islamic party's betrayal of the coalition's common policies.

"Where Pakatan is today is due to the constant betrayal and defiance of the Pakatan agenda by one of its component parties, rendering them unable to remain in Pakatan.

"Whether PAS will pull out of Pakatan or not, is not the main question, rather the question lies with the betraying actions of PAS themselves that cause them to not be able to stay in Pakatan," said Wong ( left ) in a statement today.

He cited PAS' insistence on implementing hudud as one such "betrayal" of the opposition's common stand.

"DAP cannot work with a party that betrays the rakyat, what more to say fight together as a coalition.

"PAS insistence to implement hudud law and establish an Islamic nation is going against what was agreed upon in the Pakatan agenda," he said.

He expressed disappointment with PAS' actions and said he felt there is "no more space for further cooperation with PAS".

Wong added that Sarawak DAP has already stopped attending PAS functions since July, and slammed four former PAS Selangor exco members for continuing to serve in then-menteri besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim’s administration, and the party’s “constant flirting” with Umno.

He was responding to PAS Youth's national vice-chief Khairil Nizam Khiruddin ( right ) who in a Sinar Harian report on Wednesday said he did not discount the possibility that PAS might leave Pakatan one day.

However Khairil said he was "positive" that the time was not the present and expressed favour in staying with the coalition, adding that PAS would exercise "patience" with the "obstinate" members in their partners.

He also stressed PAS does work towards the common Pakatan framework, even warning Umno on the side that they would one day occupy Putrajaya.

"We are steadfast with Pakatan, so Umno should be wary, we will be in Putrajaya, insyallah ," he was reported as saying.

Meanwhile, PAS Youth chief Suhaizan Kaiat said Khairil's statement had been "misinterpreted".

"I don’t think that was what he meant, to leave Pakatan. I have referred the matter to him.

"Thus I deny that PAS wants to leave Pakatan," he reportedly told the online news portal Antarapos today.
