Federal Territories Umno Youth's threat to torch the DAP headquarters has been categorised as "No Further Action" by the Attorney-General's Chambers.

DAP's Serdang MP Ong Kian Ming said he was informed of this in a parliamentary written reply from Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi ( right ).

The reply reads: "The investigation paper was completed and forwarded to the Attorney-General's Chambers on Sept 17, 2014 and it was decided that there will be no further action."

The investigation was conducted under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and under Section 427 for causing mischief.

However, the reply said the investigation under Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act against the Umno Youth members for protesting without giving prior notice was ongoing.

Ong condemned the AGC's decision, warning that it would embolden other groups to make similar threats.

"It appears the attorney-general is of the opinion that threatening to burn any premises is not an offence.

"I feel in future there could be more similar cases to burn the headquarters of DAP, PKR and PAS," Ong told a press conference at the parliament lobby.

Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii had on May 22 led a protest outside the DAP headquarters in Kuala Lumpur where he threatened to burn down the building.

The Umno Youth members, who were angry at Seri Delima state assemblyperson RSN Rayer who had called the party “celaka” (damned), also damaged DAP’s signage outside its headquarters.

DAP acting chairperson Tan Kok Wai, who was also present at the press conference, said the attorney-general’s decision made a mockery of the judiciary system.

“Such a decision will further erode public confidence in the judicial system of Malaysia,” he said.

Tan urged the attorney-general to review the decision, failing which DAP will file a judicial review with the courts.
