In defence of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, an Umno leader has decided to school PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli on what the term "bully" means.

According to Umno supreme council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi, the opposition MP, who accused Najib of being a bully in relation to the latter’s speech at the recent MCA annual meet, did not understand the nature of bullying.

"What was said by the PM is not bullying as claimed by Rafizi (right) .

"What the PM said was merely to ask MCA to work harder in recapturing the support of the Chinese community," he told Umno Online today.

Mohd Puad said Najib had informed MCA and the Chinese community that Umno and BN would defend what is contained in the social contract, including the existence of vernacular schools.

"But at the same time, we want to tell them that MCA and the Chinese community must prove, from the viewpoint of support for what the government has done.

"This means, don’t demand too much when they fail to bring back Chinese support for BN," he added.

Stating that Rafizi might be "confused", the Umno leader said Najib’s remarks were different from what PKR and DAP have done to PAS.

"For example, DAP took action against (PAS member) Iszuree Ibrahim in Penang for criticising the state government’s policy.

"Similar in Selangor, they reduced the number of PAS exco members from four to three. This is what bullying means," he added.

However, Mohd Puad said the approach taken by Umno was different when dealing with BN component parties.

"Although MCA and MIC are weak, we still give them minister posts. Instead of reducing, we increased MCA’s representation in the government," he added.
