The police have been ordered by the High Court in Kuala Lumpur not to disrupt the hearing of a civil suit filed by a former driver against actress Zahida Mohamed Rafik, who was said to have an affair with Rural Development Minister Shafie Apdal.

The order was issued by High Court judge Hue Siew Kheng after lawyer Latheefa Koya, for the driver Noor Azman Azemi, told Justice Hue of the possible threat of arrest faced by her client.

After Justice Hue met the parties in his chambers, during which a plainclothes police officer was called in, it was revealed that police have, since July, had an order to arrest Noor Azman, which they wanted to execute today for alleged criminal breach of trust.

However, Justice Hue ordered that there be no disruption to the civil case until Noor Azman finishes his testimony.

Noor Azman, 40 ( centre in picture ), who now works as a taxi driver, told the court that Zahida and Shafie, who is also an Umno vice-president, have an intimate relationship and that he sometimes acts as an intermediary (perantaraan) between the two.

“I know that there is intimacy between Zahida and Shafie as they would meet once a week and I even saw Shafie's driver, whose name is Vincent, give money and presents from the minister to her,” he said.

Noor Azman denied that he took RM200,000 from Zahida, as alleged by the actress in several media reports following a police report she filed in 2012.

He explained that what actually transpired was he was given a cheque for RM120,000 by Zahida, for Kam Seng Furniture and which was to be deposited into a Public Bank account.

“I remember, for that was the last day I worked with Zahida, and when I took my RM1,700 in salary from her. There was no RM200,000 amount,” Noor Azman said.

Zahida is being represented by senior lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah.

Noor Azman had revealed at the PKR headquarters two years ago that Zahida, known for her role in the “Anak Mami” movies, had deposited various amounts of money from Shafie ( left ) and that the largest amount he witnessed deposited was RM1 million.

Zahida and Shafie have denied they were having an affair or that the minister had given money to the actress.

Shafie has also threatened to sue Noor Azman and similar threats were also made by the actress.

The hearing before Justice Hue continues tomorrow.
